Anthony was a leader in the Assemblies of God and a regular preacher in the mega churches of Australia (Hillsong) as well as overseas. He lived in a world that told him his attraction to the same sex made him unacceptable to God and others.

For 22 years he tried desperately to change through psychiatric treatment, exorcisms, exgay programs, 40-day fasts and daily struggles with his ‘problem’. Although happily married for 16 years with two daughters, he eventually had to admit that nothing had changed. In 1991, he faced the toughest decision of his life; be true to himself which would result in losing everything he held dear or continue to live a lie.

His inspiring autobiography, ‘A Life of Unlearning’, won the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Business Association’s ‘Gay Book of the Year 2004’. Anthony’s honest account demonstrates the damage caused when a person maintains the uniformed belief that homosexuality is a sin, a choice or the result of a dysfunctional upbringing. Suicides, deep emotional trauma and devastation are just some of the results.

Anthony now lives as a proud gay man who is committed to educating others about the issues of same sex attraction and supporting people resolving their faith/sexuality conflict.
