The Six Clobber Passages in the Bible

There are only 6 passages in the Bible that could be assumed to talk about homosexuality. Sometimes called the “clobber pages” as they have been used to clobber gays and lesbians by creating misunderstanding and even hatred. They are:

  1. Genesis 19 (cf. 18:20)
  2. Leviticus 18:22
  3. Leviticus 20:13
  4. Romans 1:26-27
  5. I Corinthians 6:9
  6. Timothy 1:10

There are now many books that have been written and also information on the internet that give us a deeper insight from an historical and cultural backgrounds as well as the original Greek and Hebrew. Obviously, the preconceived idea about these verses was incorrect.

If you need information on this, you can do a lot of searching on the internet. Most gay Christian sites cover this adequately. You will find even differences in interpretation on these sites, which only goes to prove how difficult it is to be black and white about these passages.
